About Jacqueline Gautier, M.A., R.C.C., E.X.A., S.E.P.

Jacqueline GautierMy life journey has been eclectic, as I look back to the many twists and turns it has taken, I clearly see that it has been a carefully charted path leading me to be the person I now am and a professional life that fills my soul.

In the early days of my career my first degree was in Business Administration from the University of Saskatchewan.  I worked for 10 years in Human Resources in the fertilizer industry, a job which afforded me international travel and a deep view into many cultures around the world.  In 1990 I was the recipient of the Canadian International Development Agency’s (CIDA) Professional Development Award ($25,000), where I created a documentary film on Farm Women in Indonesia.

Treasure! Creative Adventure in Self-Discovery
Treasure! Creative Adventures in Self-Discovery can be used as a resource manual, storybook, workbook, or teaching aid.

My interests expanded to an integrated approach to healing, psychology, the creative arts and spirituality.  In 2002 & 2003 professional highlights included publishing a book Treasure:  Creative Adventures in Self-Discovery, and being nominated for the YWCA Woman of the Year Award.

Throughout the years I completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree and then went on to take a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology in San Francisco at the California Institute of Integral Studies, specializing in Expressive Arts Therapy.   I worked in San Francisco at the California Pacific Medical Centre, where I provided counselling for patients and their families in Hospice, Palliative Care, and Radiation/Oncology.  I also obtained Certifications in Hospice Care, Guided Imagery and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) from Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn.

Upon returning to Canada in 2006, I settled in Nanaimo, British Columbia and worked as an Addictions Counsellor for Edgewood Rehabilitation Centre, and then at NARSF (Nanaimo Area Resource Services for Families) in the Eating Disorders and Sexual Abuse programs, while slowly building a private practice. In 2011 I opened a full-time private practice and by 2014 had expanded my business to an expanded clinic, renting office space to 7 professional clinicians offering a variety of specialties, and realizing my dream of creating a multi-disciplinary counselling clinic, Jacqueline Gautier & Associates.  With the advent of the pandemic in 2020 and other personal transitions, the clinic in Nanaimo was closed.  I have now relocated to Victoria and am once again enjoying private practice.

A Spiritual Exploration
A spiritual exploration

My interest in Addictions and Eating Disorders prompted me to attend specialized trainings and international conferences where the issues of trauma and early attachment wounds became a focus.  In 2013 I embarked on a three-year certification program with Dr. Peter Levine’s Somatic Experience Training Institute (SETI®).  Graduating in 2015, I received a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner designation.  I also studied with Diane Pool Heller in the DARE®(Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning Experience) program.  I was also honored to be published in Sandy Boucher’s newest book She Appears: Encounters with Kwan Yin, Goddess of Compassion (2015).
