6 WEEK MINDFULNESS COURSE: CREATING CALM AMIDST THE CHAOS

This 6 week course is modeled after Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program (MBSR) at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre. Mindfulness practice has been clinically proven to benefit people suffering with stress, depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, trauma, and chronic pain.

Mindfulness practice can help us to:

  • Be more in the moment
  • Decrease stress
  • Develop insight into behaviors
  • Decrease emotional reactivity
  • Foster patience and compassion
  • Improve relationships with ourselves and others

Classes are very experiential and will involve a mixture of:

  • Discussion on the autonomic nervous system, sympathetic and parasympathic responses
  • Mindfulness exercises, body scans and guided meditation
  • Gentle stretching and mindful yoga
  • Interactive discussion and resource information

Participants will receive 2 CDs to guide them during the course and support ongoing practice

Presenter:
Jacqueline Gautier, M.A., R.C.C. has over 20 years of private practice experience and has trained with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn in MBSR. She is an expressive art therapist and specializes in Eating Disorders, Anxiety, Addictions and Trauma. She has taught Mindfulness courses for Health Canada and consults with various mental health communities and organizations on the subject.
